Called to But Not Called Into: Surrendering to God’s Plan | Numbers 27

In this week’s sermon at 704 Church, we dive into Numbers 27:13, where Moses learns he will see the Promised Land but not enter it. His response? A powerful example of Godly leadership, surrender, and trust in God's plan.

Rather than resisting, Moses selflessly prays for God to raise up a leader to guide the people forward—showing us that sometimes, we are "called to" something, but not "called into" it. As leaders, we must learn to surrender to God’s greater plan, even when it means we don’t see the final outcome.

This passage also serves as a foreshadowing of Jesus:
➡️ Joshua (Yehoshua) was chosen and filled with the Spirit to lead the people, just as Jesus (Yeshua) was sent as the ultimate Shepherd.
➡️ Like Moses, we may be part of the process but not the fulfillment—yet God is always working through us.
➡️ Jesus saw the people and had compassion, for they were like sheep without a shepherd (Mark 6:34), fulfilling Moses’ desire for a true, God-appointed leader.
